The expected Indonesian domination in the Underbone 115cc category for Round 2 of the 2012 PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship underway at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia, came early in the first day of practice.

Practice 1 in the morning saw Md Amirul Ariff Musa and Prawat Yannawut topping the timesheets temporarily until Practice 2 came around. That was when the Indonesian contingent unleashed their true abilities. The fastest time kept dropping consistently throughout the 40-minute practice session before Gupita Kresna Wardhana of team Kawasaki KYT Rextor Manual Tech finally logged 1:57.439s to earn himself the title of fastest rider of the day.

Hadi Wijaya, now with team Yamaha Yamalube KYT R9 Tunggal Jaya was 2nd fastest with 1:57.525s. Yamaha Thailand rider Prawat Yannawut was the only foreigner among the top-5, clocking in at 3rd fastest with 1:57.972s. Home boys Ferlando Herdian and Rey Ratukore completed the top-5 flight with times of 1:57.992s and 1:58.382s respectively.

"During the first practice, my bike settings were not so good, which was why I could only manage the ninth fastest time. Luckily, my team was able to take immediate action and we were able to perform much better in the second practice. It feels good to top the timesheets in my home track and I hope that I will be able to qualify for pole position as well," said Gupita.

Gupita's team mate Yudhistira ended the day in sixth overall position followed by Malaysian riders Norizman Ismail and Md Amirul Ariff Musa (seventh and eight fastest respectively) while Irwan Ardiansyah and wildcard Florianus Roy wrapped up the top-10.
