Most recently, another convincing win against Shu Sato in Round 2 of the IndoSpeed Race Series held at the Sentul International Circuit had prompted his team to immediately announce that Doni would be racing under team IndoProm colours for the second leg of the 2012 PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship, also scheduled for Sentul.
"Winning a race is always a happy occasion, but this time, the team's announcement had really made my day. I am determined to show everyone what I can do better," said Doni.
Winning the Novice category of the Yamaha Asean Cup twice when he was only 12 and 13, Doni, at 14 years old, became the youngest rider to ever win the Underbone 115cc title in the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship. Since then, Doni's rise had been meteoric to say the least, having raced full seasons in the All Japan Championship (2007), MotoGP 250 class (2008) and World Superbike Championship (2009). But as he treads the path he has chosen, the young rider has experienced ups and downs that many youths of his age would not yet have been exposed to. As a result, Doni displays a level of maturity that surpasses expectations, to the point that one could easily forget that he is only 21 years old this year.
"Throughout all the trials and tribulations, I will constantly remind myself to 'Believe In Your Abilities". This year, apart from the national championship which is the Indospeed Race Series, my only other full time commitment is the Losail International Road Race Championship. I intend to win both titles this year," said Doni.
